Or, you can transact directly with Kulula.com website (www.kulula.com), which is the airline (the "no frills" carrier that is part of Comair, the BA operator) that is offering the R299 fare. I posted a news report about this new fare/routing on 24 May.

That website is a tourism initiative, that also has info on another carrier, Nationwide.

If you fly Kulula, note that they have very strictly enforced (and unusually low) weight limits for luggage (2 bags at 20kg each, with one 5kg carry-on). If you're packed for bush planes in the Delta or some similar place, you'll be fine, but if you have packed with international weight limits in mind you may have a nasty surprise. It's R25 per extra kilo.

Babies have no luggage allowance (unlike international flights). It's not clear if pushchairs count as baggage, or if they'll charge for them.

I'll be amazed if it's 2 x 20kg per person for hold luggage. The norm in South Africa (despite your comment) is a single 20kg bag per person. It's also the norm in my experience for many Int. carriers as well. But I'm not up-to-date, in recent years I've only travelled BA Internationally. The BA "World Traveller" (economy) limit is 23kg. Club World (Business Class) is I think 30kg.

Of course some airlines might be more lenient as a norm than others, but that doesn't prevent them enforcing the limit when it's necessary.

Thanks for pointing that out, Arthur. I made a mistake -- here is the correct information from Kulula's website:

" Only one bag per person will be allowed onboard. It must be lighter than 5kg and be smaller than 50x40x20cm. (shew!) You're allowed to check-in 2 bags which TOGETHER are lighter than 20kg.
Any excess over 20kg costs you R25 per kilo."

In my experience, budget airlines are much stricter about the weight limits than normal carriers.
