Cessna flight from Swakopmund

Hi folks,

Wanted to know if any of you have done the scenic flight from Swakop (2+ hr flight) in one of those Cessna airplanes that goes all the way to the vleis, over the dunes, marshes, long wall..etc. I wanted specific feedback about the flight/the photography options from the window (good/bad) and overall experience and any tips. Is it tough to take good pictures from the windows (this is a 5 passenger plane I am talking about) ? Any tips...or advice...please.

Thanks,
TP

Hi - we did that flight in March 2010 and really enjoyed it. My husband sat in the co-pilot's seat (his request and the other 3 passengers didn't care. Lots of great pics on our blog here.

I shot video from the seat I was in and they were fine too, as you'll see in the pictures it was a high wing plane so visibility was good (although probably not as good in the last row of seats as the window tapers down).

We also went quad biking on the dunes in Swakop - it was fun too! Went with Outback Orange.

Hi, Elizabeth,

Great pics and info, thanks a lot ! I laughed a lot at the "The kids alternated between sleeping and throwing up"...comment.

Thx !!

Tigerphotog. Especially considering how much those seats cost !!

Wow Elizabeth that scenery is spectacular! I'll have to try booking this when I make it to Namibia.

Tiger hope you'll be posting a TR and pics when you get back. ;)

What company are thinking of going with?

KathBC,

I am pretty bad with trip reports, will be going in Feb (off season). I did my recent trip a couple of months ago in the high season, but I missed seeing clouds in the sky :). It was a quick trip....

I will be a repeat visitor of Namibia with Gemma Dry of Discover Namibia Safaris. Having her on the ground (even though she is based in SA now) was the key to my last trip since I had an emergency. I cannot recommend her enough...she's awesome, even helps you out on a weekend/sunday. Not many agents would do that, I think. Pls send her an email.

TP - Gemma organized our trip too and she booked our flight tour. Can't remember the operator name but whoever she recommends is good for me!

Yes Gemma has been recommended by many so I'm sure we'll be in contact shortly after my return from South Africa next June. ;)
