Certificate for Yellow Fever vaccine
 

Our safari for Kenya and Tanzania is coming up in less than a month. I know that we require a Yellow Fever vaccination for Tanzania. Is there a specified format for the certificate ? We are coming from India, and there are very few places in India which administer this vaccine. There is one in our city, but they give a simple certificate on their letterhead, with batch number of the vaccine administered. Is this OK ? I am a bit uncomfortable, as the place does not look very reliable to me.

Can anyone throw any light on this matter ? Urgent help please !!!

No one has ever ask to see our yellow fever certificate on our trips to Kenya and Tanzania. I think you will be just fine with your certificate on letterhead.

We have a "general" vaccination booklet in which all vaccinations have been filled in. No form whatsoever specifically for YF; that as well is in the booklet. We carry it all the time and I don't recollect being requested to produce it - neither in KEN nor TAZ.

I wouldn't worry - take the one you get from the travel clinic in your city.

Mine is a yellow booklet approved by the World Health Organization. The information re the YF inoc includes - where given, docs name, vacines manufacturer/lot#. And, there is space in booklet to record all other inoculations I've had, as well is which malaria tabs I've taken for each trip.

If all your clinic provides is the info on their letterhead, guess that's what you have to use.

On some visits I've been asked to show, others not.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Have located a reliable official place in Mumbai which administers the vaccine. It will mean wasting a day to travel to Mumbai and back, but I guess there is no point in taking a risk. The place in our city looks too shady and suspicious for me to take chances !
