CC Africa?

Have any of you ever gone on a trip with CC Africa? They have a safari in Tanzania that I am interested in. For once I'm not worried about the cost but would like to hear if their guides are good and the accomodations are nice.

I've gone with CCAfrica to Botswana (Sandibe) & Vic Falls (a non CCAfrica property). It wasn't a scheduled tour, but I booked the travel arrangements through them and stayed at Sandibe, which is one of their properties. Communication with them prior to the trip was very good. No problems with travel plans while there. Sandibe was a great property. Good guides, nice managing couple, etc.

If you search on CCAfrica, you'll find lots of feedback about them.

Why not post the itinerary you are considering, time of year - so we can comment and for those who have experienced with this particular itinerary and/or accommodations can comment. And those with information re dealings with CCA... their guides, etc will, hopefully, also add their comments.

I've done several trips with CCA, and had excellent experiences with them.

Note that not all safaris on the CCA website involve stays at CCA properties. CCA are happy to arrange for you to stay at non-CCA properties if you prefer. The CCA properties are listed in a separate section of the site -- in Tanzania, they are Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Klein's Camp, and Grumeti River Camp.

CCA's guides are trained to a very high standard, and the accommodation is of a very high standard as well.

My husband and I returned a few weeks ago from a trip to S. Africa & Swaziland that we booked through CC Africa. While the only CC Africa property we stayed at was Ngala, they booked everything else for us including the rental cars and domestic flights. We even received a entire packet of maps & directions. The rangers & trackers at Ngala were excellent as were the meals & accommodations. While planning the trip they were very responsive & usually replied to my email within hours. I changed the itinerary several times to get it perfect & they were happy to do so. We used Louise Nordier and she was fantastic. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I also worked with Louise -- she is fantastic! You can reach her at [email protected] if you'd like to work specifically with her. However, CCA consultants do tend to specialise in either southern or eastern Africa, so she may be a southern Africa specialist. It can't hurt to drop her an email.

Thanks for all the replies. The itinerary is this:

2 or 3 nights - Kleins Camp
2 nights - Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
2 nights - Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

I would be going next month, November.

Does this seem like enough time to get at least a taste of Africa? I had planned 2 weeks off for this and want to include a few days in Mauritius for the beaches. I don't want to get overwhelmed with game drives but still want to see as much as I can.

Peter, thank you for your offer of help. I've had a reply from Debbie at CC Africa and will call her back.

I am VERY excited about this trip. I've never done anything like this on my own so it's a big deal as well as a big birthday.

Thanks everyone.

You will love it. I think it is a perfect choice for your first safari. We took a trip of the same size (safari-wise) in May 2004 with CCAfrica to Botswana. I know we'll go back again. Cheers!
