Cash or Trav Cks in Vic Falls

I have gotten conflicting information about paying for activities (rafting, etc) in Vic Falls. Do you need actual USD green cash or will the activity companies accept USD traveler's checks? anyone with recent info please respond. many thanks. any comments about rafting companies or other Vic Falls tips also appreciated.

We were there (Zimbabwe side) at the end of November.
From our experience, you need to exchange the money, but it's a little tricky. The official rate is 1USD=55ZIM, but the black market rate is 1USD=900ZIM.
If you are met at the airport by a tour guide, he will assist with the "appropriate" exchange. Cash and trav. checks will get you the same rate. Do no use your credit cards there as you will get the "official" rate.
Also, by law all accomodations in Zimbabwe must be paid by foreign currency. For this reason do not charge your meals to the room.

To best illustrate the point:
dinner for two will cost your about 14,000ZIM, which is about 15USD if exchanged properly, and about 250 USD if you use your credit card or exchnage money "officially".
