Carry meds in baggies vs. original containers
 

Pill containers take up a lot of room in carry-on luggage. On domestic flights I carry daily pills in labeled baggies. I've read that for internat'l. travel you need to carry meds in their original / labeled containers. Does anyone have an experienced opinion? I appreciate the advice.

In travel as in life if you give trouble an opening . . . which is to say, though I’ve never carried prescription drugs in a baggie so have no first-hand experience, why court the possibility of running into difficulty. My personal policy is to do what occurs to me to avoid complications as there are enough unknowns already, even for experienced travelers. I suggest just keeping them in the original containers.

I carry my one prescription in a baggie, its not a narcotic. You can request from your pharmacy, flat packets with your script and pills. Agree, don't want to worry but never have been asked to declare. If you are worried bring the original container.

I’ve never heard of that, an excellent solution.

Solution one: Ask your pharmacist for some smaller bottles,
Solution two: Get a bigger suitcase.
Solution three: Take less other stuff.

Is TSA and any other agency to just believe you when you tell them it's not a narcotic? They don't know what the pills are and could confiscate them. I wouldn't take a chance. Either use the original bottle, or have the pharmacy issue a script in a smaller container.

If you regularly get pulled out of line and held for interrogation then I would keep them in original containers. But who's to say the pills in the original container are the prescribed pills?

If possible I pull the label off and put it on the baggies. You might also be able to get a printout your prescriptions if you think you may be questioned.
