Car Rental in Turkey??

We're in Turkey for 4 weeks. We're seriously thinking of renting a car for the Istanbul - Ankara leg (23 days via Edirme, Cannakale, Birgama, Selcuk, Bodrum, Marmaris, Pamakkule,
Egidir, Konya etc to Goreme, Kayseri, Sivas, and Amasya). The quote for the car is $960 USD including tax, cdw, theft insurance etc. Our thinking is that the savings in travel and waiting time plus the huge flexibility will make it worthwhile.
Any help or advice??

We rented a car in Turkey last year (15 days of travel). I can't imagine not having your own car - it saved time, money, hassle and we could be much mroe spontaneous with our plans. Even driving was much easier than we had been warned. Be very careful driving at night, though, since people walk on the road and bikes, donkeys, goats and even some cars don't have lights!
When we were ready to pick up the car (minivan) we had reserved, it wasn't ready. The guys at our hotel (Uyan in Sultanahmet) made some phone calls and found us another car within an hour, and even bargained for a better rate.
