Capetown Weather end of May/June

Can someone tell me what to expect weather-wise? We would be going before our safari in Botswana and I heard it can be very cold and rainy. Is that true? Since we have never been there before should we chance it and go anyway? If not, where else would you recommend a first timer to South Africa should go? Thank you.

there is a chance for rain and it will be a little chilly in capetown in may/june, but you should definitely still visit there. it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world anytime of year.

The Cape is the jewel of South Africa and you should definitely go; however, you are right, it can be cold and rainy at that time of the year. Also, the days are short. Of the many times I have been to the Cape in winter, I have experienced more good weather than bad. Good luck and enjoy!

Is April any better weather-wise?

Susan,

April would be better weather-wise for Cape Town but would limit your safari options in Southern Africa or, at a minimum, would have you going on safari before the ideal time.
