We are booked Cape Grace mid August for week. Any comments or tips re hotel, weather, etc, please.

Great choice, it's a lovely hotel and the service is immpecable. Location is good for wandering around, as it is right in the Waterfront area, lots of restaurants (though not top grade). In fact the best restaurant in the area is at the hotel. We were there in August last year, weather was perfect -- about 70 and clear. Do take trips to the wine region and the peninsula, we also enjoyed the botanic gardens.

Magnificent hotel, weather in August in Cape Town could be hit and miss - but the Cape weather gives you many alternatives due to the mountains so although you won't? be able to go to the beach (winter) the winelands and Cape Point can charm you. <BR>Don't forget to book a ride on the restaurant car on the Simons Town Train. <BR>Have breakfast and let the Cape Seascape pass your window. - enjoy <BR>Must book through Computicket

Cape Grace was just rated by Conde Nast Magazine as one of the top hotels in the world (see their Dec(?) issue. <BR>It could rain in August as that is approaching the end of their winter/rainy season. There is so much to do in Cape Town. don't miss the cable car up Table Mountain on a clear day, a trip along Chapman's Peak Drive around the Peninsula to Cape Point Nature Reserve(watch out for the baboons -don't carry anything in a bag, they will steal it.) Also the beach at Boulders where you can swim or picnic with the Penguins. go to a wine farm in Stellenbosch, (I will have to look up the name) for you where they have a cheetah conservation program and you can (under supervision) pet the cheetahs. You have to stop at Hout Bay and eat fish and chips at one of the open-air restaurants. <BR>Treat yourself (not expensive in American dollars) to the restaurant at the Mount Nelson Hotel, also rated as one of the top ten restaurants in the world by Conde Nast last year. One of our other favorite restaurants is Wiloughby's in the mall at the Waterfront. Try their seafood platter with calamari (sauteed , not deep fried with batter.)
