can men wear shorts in Morocco?

Hi! I've read a half-dozen guidebooks on Morocco and they vary on whether it's culturally ok for men to wear shorts either in the big cities or in villages. I'm terribly uncomfortable in long pants and would skip going there if I couldn't wear walking shorts. Thanks for your reply.

Depends how good your legs are Bob! :-d

We've travelled all over Morocco and I've worn shorts everywhere without any problem.

As previous poster pointed out, you will be perfectly fine wearing shorts in both cities and villages.
Enjoy Morocco.

I wouldn't -- but then I won't even wear shorts in NYC where it is, unfortunately, culturally acceptable.

I think you could get away with it in Rabat or Casablanca. Probably get some stares in Fes.

Many Arab cultures feel men in shorts are wearing their underwear. And though you often find local men wearing long robe/gown-type attire, beneath there's a pair of shorts.

And NO, I wasn't personally looking, but have seen the guys when climbing in/out of vehicles or crouching to get something and need to get the robe/gown out of the way... they're shorts (as we understand) and not tiddy-whities!

However, if you're considering the long walking length shorts to the knees, you should be fine.
