Unless you prefer to shoot slow film, as I do, Andy

John, one of these days you're going to run out of Kodachrome 25 ...

(I still have 200 rolls of Velvia in the freezer)

No way, Bill. Film will still be around when I'm long gone :D

You want to sell some film cheap? It's so much more expensive in Oz than the US and other places, I'm always on the lookout for a few rolls. BTW, I've departed from slow film a little lately, trying out the new Provia 400X. Looks like a good thing.

What's film?

:-)

The closest I have gotten to film is the "Filmpack" add-on to DxO Optics Pro ...

I'll tella boys, you ain't lived until you've shot chrome slides. That's a true learning opportunity; exposure, composition, you truly have only "one shot" at it. Non of this girly pansy post processing stuff we do today. Ah, yes, the good old days - NOT.

ps - it was in fact the ability to do all this digital stuff that got me again interested in photography a few years ago.

Do you shoot medium format as well as 35 mm? When the 'new, improved' Velvia 100 came out I bought a lot of the original Velvia in 220 for my 6x7 cm cameras and that's aging in the freezer now, but I think I gave away all the Velvia and Provia 100F in 35 mm ...

Yes, Bill...I have a 645. Do you still have my email address?

John & Bill, Would either of you have any flash powder around--you know for putting the catch light into the subjects eyes :-)

afrigalah Sep 29th, 2007 01:03 PM

Hell no, Chuck, you tried getting that stuff on to planes lately? Besides, with today's hi res images, the catchlights look like explosions in the eyes. Slowly but surely, they're taking away all the things that make photography challenging :)

Bill, I am interested in taking a small parcel. The amount of detail and image quality of a good medium format transparency is mind-blowing, and I love doing landscapes in that medium. If you haven't got my email address, it's milbankj at internode dot on dot net. I've lost your address.

Hi John, I switched from AOL to high-speed cable and lost a lot of old emails, but will dig thru the freezer to see exactly what 120/220 films I have left and get the date codes and send you an email ... nice to see the Velvia get a good home :)
