Cairo to Sharm

Other than flying is there any other good means of traveling from Cairo to Sharm?

I believe there are local buses. Not my choice, but probably very economical. You may also be able to hire a car/driver.

Hopefully someone will chime in with specifics.

You said it all Grcxx3. There are buses to get there and they leave from a few different locations a few times a day, and they aren't expensive.

When i was researching bus was the prefered option for locals and back packers - lots of Egyptians work in the resorts at the red sea and bus it to and from Cairo.
Yes cheap - Long & very interesting experience. The trip is up to 9 hours depending on the company - according to Lonely Planet (just been reading the book!) cost is from 60 Egyptian pounds.
The companies are Superjet & East Delta Travel Company
Yes, private car and driver - much more expensive.

When reading quoted prices in any guide book, please be aware that these prices are only as current as the last press of the book, and only as accurate as their editor had time to be while they were here.

LP had people in Eygpt last summer so hopefully any new edition should be pretty accurate, but always remember that things change (sometimes daily here in Egypt) and like anywhere else costs for fuel and other expenses go up now and again.
