Gettysburg63 - please don't take offense to my correction there. I just feel the need to get these little things straight so new people following this thread don't get mis information and then come to Egypt insisting to see her temple in the VOQ - as they sometimes do after reading forums like this. Thanks for your understanding.

I agree that the Illustrated Guide is invaluable. I got mine in Cairo a few years ago and it's one of my prized possessions. My first time to Cairo I visited the museum twice, once with a guide and then by myself. I've since been back about three more times. I don't really consider myself a museum person but it seems like you can spend ages in The Egyptian Museum and not see everything.

Update.

The Illustrated Guide to Cairo is now called 'Treasures Of Ancient Egypt - The Collection of The Egyptian Museum in Cairo." Same book/same cover and it's available on Amazon for around $11. http://www.amazon.com/Treasures-Anci...8264936&sr=1-2

Good catch! How bizarre that the old title is demanding over $100 and the new one is only $11. Well done AE.

Thanks CC. I guess because the old one is no longer available outside of Egypt and The Middle East, the sellers think they can capitalize on it.

I found them at betterworld books for .47 cents. Supposed in good condition, at that price the postage to Australia would not be such a killer. I know I chose to pay the overage weight on plane which was actually cheaper than the postage shipping books home from Oz last year. Your postage is fairly high even in country.
