Cairo Hotel

We will be in Cairo for three days next month. Which are the best hotels to stay in from a tourist point of view? We want to see the Museum, Pyramids, etc.

The Pyramids & Sphinx are in Giza on West side of the Nile, while the Museum is on the East side of the Nile.

We stayed 2-nits at the Movenpick on Giza side, down the block from the Mena House. Movenpick is a European chain - low buildings on great gardened property, beautiful pool. Large rooms and bath, plenty of a/c, refrigerator, TV, fine service.

With a driver and guide spent first day on West side in Giza visiting Pyramids and Sphinx in morning; then afternoon went to Memphis and Saqqare. Following day spent morning at Museum, lunch at restaurant along the Nile, afternoon in Old Cairo and Khan Khahili Bazaar.

The Mena House is also lovely with great view of the Pyramids from their pool area.

Not familiar with other than the Sheraton el Gazeriah on Gazeriah Island (in middle of Nile) which we stayed at for extra day before departing home. There is another hotel on this island (other end) or another island, but can't recall the name.

You can arrange for a driver and guide for your time in Cairo at very reasonable prices.

Pyramids -- stay one night at Mena House Oberoi

For museums and Cairo -- I like the Semiramis Intercontinental from where you can walk to the museum, and I've also stayed at the Nile Hilton (OK hotel with great location) and Marriott (nice hotel but isolated on an island).
