Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza, environs

We'll be staying there for two nights in October, then another two nights later. Not much free time since we're on a tour, but interested in shopping and dining opportunities around the hotel. We like Middle Eastern food and would love to eat some, but we're aware we might be in a tourist ghetto. Advice?

Well, I'm answering my own question, since we're back after 4 nights there. There's not much of a possibility to get out of the hotel, mostly because of the traffic. If we'd stayed there longer, and having adapted ourselves to Cairo, we would have ventured out, but fellow travellers who tried, said they could not even get across the main road (Corniche), to walk by the river. Fortunately the hotel was very nice, and we had plenty of opportunities to experience Egypt when we were in the south.
