Cairo Egypt tour Petra
My son and I plan to book a Grand Circle tour to Egypt to go in January. We are also interested in seeing Petra. Is there a one or two day guided tour that anyone can recommend. We would like to go from Cairo either before or after our trip. Thank you for your help.

Grand Circle* has a sister operation - OAT - similar itineraries, but better lodging, so somewhat more expensive.
*don't know your age or that of son, but GC participants tend to be 60+, most retired; if son is young, this might be something to consider. OAT offers pre- or post-Jordan options. I'd think Grand Circle might also. If not asked to be connected (or call direct) OAT and see what they have available/price, dates, etc. Otherwise, from Cairo, 1/day (even 2/days) would be difficult as you'd have to fly to Amman Jordan then (probably next day) with pre-arrangments of guide/vehicle for drive to Petra. Return to Amman from Petra will be late, requiring an overnight. Flight next day to Cairo, which I assume is from where you'd be heading home. Minimum 3/days needed. |
Thanks for your reply sandi. We are taking Grand Circle because we are traveling with my inlaws who are in their seventies. My son who is 21 and I would like to see Petra but didn't want to book the extention trip which includes Petra as it was for six days. I was hoping to make it a shorter trip as I have a time consideration. I am not even sure if we have a safety concern flying on our own. Anyway if we can find a short reliable tour that would be great.

jerseysusan,
You might want to look into General Tours. They have a 2 night Petra "Add on". Their website is: www.generaltours.com. Anita |
Hey thanks Anita
I just took a brief look at the general tours site but don't see this add on. I only see longer options. Did you take this trip? |
Hi jerseysusan,
No, I didn't take it, but plan on using them in 2010. I spoke to them on the phone and they sounded very reliable and helpful. Anita |
Just a note regarding ages of GC participants. I've been on several tours and yes, most travelers are older, but there are nearly always a few in their 20's or 30's.
