Botswana/Zim in Feb/March?

I'm trying to put together a 2006 2-week safari for Botswana/Vic Falls for a group of 8 and keep the land costs to $6000. I'd like to stay at Wilderness Safaris camps as much as possible (don't laugh!) Rather than change to a less expensive camp or two in the high season, my safari consultant is suggesting we go in the "green season" of Feb/March when the costs are lower. He's saying that it rarely showers during the day, I really don't want to be there went it's hot and raining (open vehicles, after all.) Has anyone been at this time of year; am I right about it not being a good time to go? What about the shoulder season of April/May? Also, has anyone traveled to the camps in Zimbabwe lately, such as Chikwenya? What are the conditions, given the current problems in the country?
