Botswana or South Africa
 

We will have 3 days to spend in either the Okavango Delta or at a private reserve outside of Kruger. We will be in Vic Falls and Johannesburg so either would be convenient. Prior to Vic Falls, we will have spent 2 weeks on a safari in Kenya. Please help us decide on a destination. <BR>

I haven't been to South Africa but I did go to the Chobe Game Lodge in Botswana. I chose to go there after reading a book which described it as "The Best Undiscovered Exotic Resort." I also chose it because it was less crowded and touristy than other choices. I am not wild about safaris, so maybe not the best person to answer your question, but it was a wonderful trip and again, there were no crowds to interfere with my bonding with the animals and nature.

Maybe it was the time of year but we found Chobe to be too crowded with tourists. We had previously spent time at three different camps in the Delta and never saw anyone else except those in our party and the camp employees so had gotten used to the wonderful solitude.

The Okavango Delta is definately worth a visit, it is one of the last remaining 'truly unspoiled' areas of Africa. <BR> <BR>By comparison with Kruger, the Delta is far more interesting. Kruger is a major tourist attraction, teeming with cars, busses etc. Whereas the Okavango Delta when one goes out on Safari, you won't see another human being, let alone a car! <BR>The Okavango is expensive however, this is a deliberate policy of the Botswanan Government to protect the fragile eco-system from being damaged by over development of tourism. <BR> <BR>More info on our WebSite at ; http://www.island-safari.com <BR> <BR>N <BR> <BR>

If you have spent two weeks on safari in Kenya, I would go to the Okavango and be sure to stay at a "water camp". It will be a very different experience from your time in Kenya. I think that a private reserve outside of Kruger, while it would be great (and not crowded at all) would be more of the same.
