Some pictures of my recent trip: http://www.aardvarktravel.net/chat/v...?p=84313#84313
Places to be visited: Duba plains/Lebala/CPT Johan |
Oh my god, Johan. As usual, just mind boggling. (Glad to see you back!)
So many - the Bataleur, Carmines, the buffalo/lion shots. The dogs, the tiny beat-eared fox... wow. Thanks for posting these! |
Spectacular photos, yet again. How in the world do you get those pictures of all the birds (and one lion) in mid-flight? I can hardly wait for the trip report, it looks like you had some wonderful sightings.

Johan-
Good to have you back. Gotta say, I always look forward to seeing your photos. They are just superbly shot. You've got a great eye for composition. Thanks for sharing! |
Great pictures. What is the name of the bird with the spectacular blue and black wings?
|
(A Johan by any other name....)
These are incredible and I can't wait to hear about your time at the Kwando properties!!! |
Superb, as usual. Loved the birds in flight and the stopped action pictures - amazing!
Thanks for posting; Sherry |
Thanks!

When Skimmer came onto the forum recently with such in depth knowledge and experience I thought, "Skimmer reminds me of Johan." But it never occurred to me you are one in the same. The timing should have been a clue to me.
Your bird photos are out of this world. All of them are just exceptional. Did you find the Doublemint twins? I'm not sure if that reference makes sense worldwide. Now we need the tales behind these magnificent photos. Come on back as Skimmer. |
Wonderful photos, you should consider posting your shots on FredMiranda.com Nature and Wildlife forum. For others who do not know of this site it is great for pro and amateur photographers and there are pretty regular postings of African wildlife. I am not affiliated with the site, just an avid amateur nature photographer.

Thanks everyone - I'll have a problem with my computer right now(it has to be repaired today) so I hope to be back in the weekend with a trip report.

Superb images Johan!
(I replied also on the other forum.) AND another Nikon user! Apart from the D200, what was the other body you used? I see you lugged around a CF tripod as well.............such dedication! I have just ordered the f/2.8 300VR and can't wait to use it for Zambia. Cheers Marc |
Your photos are fantastic! Duba Plains and Lebala look like wonderful places to stay. Thanks - Maddy

Wonderful pictures! That lion is incredible. And the birds, great job!
|
Outstanding images that jump from the screen and allow the viewer to feel the power, beauty, and wonder of African wildlife.
|
absolutely amazing and impressive photos! you need to apply for a job with national geographic!
|
Incredible as always -- love the buffalo where the teeth are so visible. You always have shots that have just a little something more than most people. Looking forward to the report and glad you shared it here!

Johan,
Fantastic as always. All the photos were incredible but my favorites included the lilac breasted roller, the wild dogs playing, the lion in flight, the bat-eared fox, the spoonbill landing, the baby baboon and the baby elephant. By the way, was that flock a flock of carmine bee eaters? Have you ever submitted any of your photos to National Geographic or Traveler? Thanks again for brighting my day. Deb |
