Botswana bound-----Again!
I leave tomorrow 21 October for yet another visit to Botswana. This time with a friend who is living in Switzerland at the moment.
We start at Lebala and will have Spencer guiding us. We move on to Little Vumbura on 25 October, and then on to Jack's on 28 October where I will celebrate my birthday yet again.
On 31 October it's Savuti to check out the Channel, and how far it has come since I last saw it in March. On 3-4 November we shall be at Mena a Kweno- which has had some poor reports, but we will have Super from Jack's as our guide, so I'm not worried.
Home again on 6 November.
I just can't wait!

Thankyou Lisa,
I haven't been to Little Vumbura since '03. I actually watched the England v South Africa World Cup rugby match there on the managers satellite T.V.! It was during siesta time.
Hari,
I shall be on the case for you, don't worry. I saw Milky Eye and his friend in March so will look out for him. I hope that the wild dogs are still there.

Hallo Hari,
Yes, I'm back from another fantastic trip. I've been worrying how to give you news from Lebala, and hoped that I wouldn't be the bearer of bad news, and that you already knew.
When Spencer came to meet my friend and I off the plane I immediately asked him about your cheetah and her daughter. He was very sad, and told me that the daughter hadn't been seen for two days and that he feared for her.
We followed the mother for two days and saw one unsuccessful hunt, and she finally caught a very pregnant impala which she was guarding when we found her. We then watched as she devoured the foetus.
Pretty gruesome.
On our final morning Spencer and P.D. tracked a leopard for 2 1/2 hours and they finally found a nervous leopard under a tree. One photo and he was gone. It was fabulous tracking. It's well worth having a private guide and Lebala is aplace where it pays off. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Spencer sends his regards and looks forward to seeing you again in March.

Hi Jan,
That was her son. I didn't know about it - and I don't have enough words to tell you how devastated I am right now. I know it's nature and all that ....... but, not leaving their sight for days together and keeping up with them with memorable sightings, this is very very difficult for me.
I'm glad you had a good trip and thanks for your post.
Regards,
Hari

Dear Hari,
You know how sorry I am to give you the news. Spencer was also devastated. I uderstand your connection with cheetahs--what beautiful graceful creatures they are.
One morning we were backed up a termite mound in the shade under a tree and she walked over and sat with us in the cool. It was a very special moment.
