Yipes!!!We are going to Botswana--mainly the northern part--in April with 6 other couples--tour arranged. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has been there. We will be seeing all wildlife but my husband and I are avid bird watchers. Can't wait...

Just got back from Botswana (2nd trip, third already planned for July). I have become an avid birder thanks to Leon at Mala Mala. This September we saw 191 birds in 10 days. We had 3 days each at Mala Mala and Savuti, then two days each at Kwando Lagoon and Sandibe.

Highlights bird wise - Adult Fish Eagle and 3 juveniles. Slaty Egret. Wattled and Crowned Crane. Secretary Birds. Thousands of Carmine Bee Eaters. Lappet faced and Whiteheaded Vulture, Arnotts Chat, Bradfields Hornbill, many Giant Eagle Owl, Barred Owl, Bateleur - close up in a tree. And many more.

My wife has 10*40 Leica's which are stunning. I have 10*25 Nikon's which do a good job.

Newman's or Sasol field guides are a must have.
