Bots (Selinda) or South Africa (Ngala Tented) in late Sept 2011 12 nights

Be interested in your perspective on the two options above been to both areas before but a few years back and Botswana was in April so different time of year. Of course Bots is a little more expensive but for 12 nights its not a deal breaker.

Main feedback i am looking for is game viewing experience, quality of guides particularly at Selinda (i know who i will use at Ngala) at that time of year, of course nothing is ever guaranteed.

HI EFC11,

I have been at Selinda Reserve ( Zib Camp first week of November 2007)

and at TImbavati Reserve ( Ngala Tented first week of september 2009)

Not the same time of year so ,difficult to compare. In our case wildlife viewing was much better in Timbavati . Landscape and wild feeling better in Selinda.

I add the link to my photos so you can have an idea.

During our 3 day stay at Selinda we had a big storm 2 nights .They told us wildlife viewing was quiet because the rain but later we met an english couple that had spent the same 3 days at Kwando Lagoon Camp and had great predator viewing with lions, leopard , cheetah and wildogs in 3 days in spite of heavy rain also ????

I would go to Botswana and split the 12 night between 2 places ???

We visited Lebala and Kwara and wildlife viewing was excellent.

Paco.

Been on safari 20+ times and had some of our best experiences staying in one place for extended period i.e. last year saw 12 kills in 12 days

sorry but yes may well split between 2 places.

Paco - great photos - love the leopards drinking

I like long stays, if I know who my guide will be. You sure the guide you want at Ngala Tented will be there next Sept? &Beyond guides move around a lot.

But still, 12 nights same camp is a bit long even of for me. Ngala Tented abuts the Timbavati reserve and I would break those 12 nights into 6 at Kings Camp and Ngala. Or, not do Ngala/Timbavati but drop a tiny bit south and do 2-3 camps in Sabi Sand reserve. Better game viewing there than in Timbavati.

EFC11,

The photo stream above is 2 weeks in the Kwando concession from August 2010. Given the current wet cycle in the Linyanti, I was not to be disappointed (not great sightings of Lions as they were supposedly denning in the Selinda concession when I was at Kwando).

Nothing great in terms of photography to a lot of people who read this forum - but, who cares ...... I'm more than happy with them and not looking for that "perfect photograph" as there is much more to life than that.....

We stayed at Ngala tented camp for four nights in October 2010.Rob was our guide,Amos our tracker. The quality of game viewing was superb and Rob was an extremely knowledgeable guideEven arranged an impromptu breakfast in a dry river bed as part of our morning game drive. They had a high suceess rate in tracking including a young leopard and her cub.We also got to run with a pack of 21 wild dogs. The sightings were as much a joy for the guide and tracker as they were for us
The meals were unequalled on our trip and we also stayed at two lodges in Sabi Sands.given there are only 6 tents and 12 guests you are treated royally

Out of interest, which guide will you use at Ngala Tented?

"Out of interest, which guide will you use at Ngala Tented?"

Do you have a choice?
