Bookmarking
When I see this - "bookmarking" in a post. What does it mean? And how do you do it?
Thanks |
As best I can tell, people do it so that when they click on their screen name, which pulls up all sites to which one posted, it pulls up the bookmarked sites.
|
As I understand it, "bookmarking" is like "favorites" - adds articles, threads, links, etc. to a folder you've created under bookmarks/favorites on your computer.
However, and someone correct me if I'm way off on this... you can click on a thread and simply store/save it as a bookmark/favorite without having to key "bookmark" or "ttt" (take-to-top or thread-to-top). Either of these entries will also keep the particular thread current on the first page of threads. |
I would think that the cookie settings on your computer would dictate whether just clicking on a thread would "bookmark" it for you. That has never worked for me. But, I do actually bookmark by typing threads that I am interested in. When Fodors asked what enhancements we would like I and several other people mentioned being able to follow a thread.

and to do it, just post any reply - if you don't have anything to add then you could type ttt or bookmark. Then, to follow that thread, you find a post that you have written something on, and click on your name. All the posts that you have participated in come up. |
now, that was interesting - I tried a sort of edit function, by hitting the back button to add on to my post. But, it posted twice. Sorry! I guess Fodors needs to work on that edit function as well.

Okay so you type "something" so that it shows up under your screen name in order to find it later if needed.
Thanks for explaining. Definitely makes it easier than trying to remember the title of the thread! and searching the whole catagory. |
On my computer at least, right clicking on a topic in the list on the left and selecting "Add to Favorites" works to bookmark threads I am interested in.

eenusa, I just tried that and it works, too. Thanks for pointing that out.
