Blyde river canyon

We have booked a road transfer from Nkorho lodge in Sabi sands to Hoedspruit to fly back to joberg.I just realised we are passing close to the canyon but unfortunately have little time to stop to enjoy it.is it likely we will be travelling close enough to see it as we drive through the area?It certainly looks outstanding and would be a shame not to see it.Thanks

We added an overnight to see the Blyde River Canyon area. It is beautiful. You can't see it unless you go out of your way for it.

It's very very nice but if you are expecting someting as spectacular as, say, the Grand Canyon or Vic Falls, you may be disappointed. We spent a day touring the area with a private guide/driver and thoroughly enjoyed it. Stayed for a couple of nights at a resort in White River.

Agree with LAL.
Have also driven around the area, pretty but not nearly as spectacular as USA Rockies or Western National Parks.
I'd guess you would need 4 hours to detour over that way on your way to Hoedspruit.

Note that this area is notorious for heavy fog and rain - the two days we visited we didn't see a thing and over the past month it's been pretty bad too. Check the season before rebooking your trip.
