Birding/Wildlife Safari in Tanzania

My husband and I are planning to spend two weeks in Tanzania on a private birding/wildlife safari. We are free for 3 months - June, July, August. We would really appreciate input on when the best time to go would be in terms of viewing, crowds, etc.

Hi Jandj

June is an excellent month as the summer crowds have not arrived yet, and the wildebeest migration should be near the Grumeti river areas! Jul/Aug is fine too but more people.

Birding & Beyond Safaris in Arusha has a good reputation for birding here.

You can see many birds in the popular Northern parks (Arusha NP, Serengeti, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, etc), but you should also look further afield.

Ruaha is great, as are Lake Victoria, Udzungwa Mountains, Mkumi NP, Usambara Mountains, Amani and even Pemba Island. They are still finding new species in some of these places!

But don't delay! Book soon!
