Beware of Safari Dreamers

Beware of Safari Dreamers, Ltd., which is owned by Tom Kisura. This is not a reputable company. What happened on my trip was bad but right now friends of mine are stuck in Tanzania mid way through their trip and have found out that Tom Kisura has not paid his Tanzanian associates for the rest of their trip. Safari Dreamers was very poorly managed when we were there but at least they didn’t steal our funds, as it appears they have now absconded with my friends’ funds. We had started to call them Snafu Safari because of all of their constant screw-ups but this latest situation smacks of outright fraud.

I dont know if anyone else from these boards have used them before.....did you check with reliable sources for a reference prior to making your booking with Safari dreamers? That's always advisable to do.....

Pl.do a search on these boards in the search box and see if you can come up with any information on these boards......

Sorry, you had to endure a traumatic safari.......

I have never heard of them. From whom did you get the recommendation (that source may likewise not be reputable!)?

Safari Dreamers is listed as a TATO member www.tatotz.org. You should let them know of your experience and your friends' experience.

They also appear to be members of ASTA, so you may be able to file a complaint with them as well.

Please keep us updated on your friends' situation.

I'm sorry your trip was a "snafu safari" and feel really horrible for your friend but I have to ask. Why did your friend use the same company that was a snafu for you?

sandi,
Does #16 refer to the same www.tanganyika.com that operates Olduvai and Ronjo camps?

Patty - Might be. Again, this was direct from TATO. Have no idea what the criteria for the list.

Hmmm, well the website Patty posted is for Tanganyika Expeditions and the one on Sandi's list is Tanganyika Expedition (note the missing "s&quot. I can absolutely seeing some fly-by-night operator appropriating the name of a legitimate operator and changing it in some minor way.

Also, Mount Kilimanjaro Safari Club, aka Tanganyika, is a TATO member. Click on the link on the TATO website and it brings you to the one Patty's typed above, as they are one and the same company.

But montanan_traveler, I'm very sorry to hear about your friends, and hope their trip takes a turn for the much-much better ASAP.

The fact that they haven't paid their annual license fee could be indicative of other problems-- financial, organizational, etc. Sandi did us a favor posting that list.

Sandi,

If any of the companies on your illegal list do eventually pay you their annual license fees, will you kindly let us know?

Thanks!

I don't want any fees; ain't my business to collect such.

If as indicated above, the outfitters that appear on the list, didn't pay their annual TATO fees, it's their responsibility to do so (or not).

As consumers we make our decisions accordingly.

montana_traveller - Still scratching my head wondering why if you had problems with this company, your friends used them.

That's a good point Sandi. Makes you wonder whether it is an honest post. Big pinch of salt at the moment.

Looks like this is the OP's first posting - so he obviously didn't use this forum to research his safari. Seems suspicious........
