best vacation in February

We would like to go on Feb to an island vacation with our 9 years old son. We are looking for a beach, on the water, a warm place and most important magical (this is our honeymoon...yes, with our kid). Unique, remote, not touristy. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot

Pemba island, in the indian ocean and stay at Fundu Lagoon Resort or , if you are not looking after luxury resorts, then Lamu.

ruti - You've posted this on the Africa/Middle East Board, so can one assume you are looking for an island holiday in/around the continent? If not and you are interested in islands any place else around the world, let us know. Also, how long do you have for this holiday including your travel time from where you are traveling?

Tere - there are some luxury accommodations in the Lamu Island area, check out Manda Bay.

Tnx for replying. Sandi, we are looking for a place that will be closer to where we live because we prefer to spend the money on the resort rather than on flights. We live in Israel. But pls recommend anywhere as long as it is not the US or australia.. (that is too far). Thanks a lot for your help.

ruti - then from Israel it's a rather short flight to Mombasa, Kenya. You can vacation there or further north near Lamu or Malindi. Or you can go to Zanzibar where there is the sister island of Pemba with only one really nice hotel Fundu Lagoon. Also Mnemba Island which is off Zanzibar and very expensive. If you enjoy scuba diving you can fly from Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania to Mafia Island.

So there are a number of island choices not too far away.

Don't know your budget, but check the Cheli & Peacock website at
http://www.chelipeacock.com/camps/index.html
and look for Kiwayu and Manda Bay in the Lamu area of Kenya.

Mombassa has lots of hotels, but since it is your honeymoon you might want something more private even with your child. Likewise Zanzibar has many hotels - large and small. A search on Google should be able to find as many hotel options in all these areas.

On Mafia Island you have only two hotel options Kinasi and Pole Pole, but I would only do 3-days here and the rest of my holiday on another island/area. Hope this gets you started.

If you're looking for something unique and remote then you have only a few choices on Zanzibar.

Please take a look at Chumbe. I always look for eco-friendly places instead of large resorts (and Zanzibar has its share of large resorts). Chumbwe is different, eco-friendly, remote, unique and affordable (kids are half-price)!
