Best time of year to visit Egypt

I would like to do a 10-14 day trip to Egypt to see all the highlights but am not sure what is a good time to go. We would like to do a mix of private guides for some sights and then go on our own, so I'd like to find a balance of reasonable crowds and reasonable temperatures if this is even possible. Thanks in advance!

We traveled mid-October thru early-Nov. Temps were perfect in Cairo, though somewhat cool evenings requiring a jacket, sweater, shawl if outdoors.

On the Nile Cruise, days were warm to hot, but boat is air conditioned. Evening temps did drop, so some coverup when on the deck of the boat.

The farther south you go (Upper Egypt) as Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel, are very hot during the day, though temps drop somewhat evenings when on land (not at cool as when crusing).

Depending on where you are from your choices for optimum weather may vary, but I think November is the ideal month to visit.

November, eh? Great! We will be there for 2 or 3 days next week (cannot remember exactly how many without looking it up). Unfortunately, we hear the Museum of Islamic Art is still closed ..... :(

My wife and I traveled during November: Cairo, Luxor, Nile River cruise, etc. Weather was perfect!

I visted in late Nov/early Dec and it was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold but just a bit cool at night.

My wife and I went last January. It was perfect. The mornings were a little cool but warmed up by 8:30. The evenings too were a little cool but this did not distract from the holiday. The day time temperatures averages 17 to 20 degrees C. The only draw back was it was a little to cool to swim in the pool during the Nile cruise portion.

looks like a good consensus. now to convince my husband we should do this November 2009 (and get moving) rather than November 2010. thanks!
