Best time of year to visit?

What is the best time of year to visit Israel? (Would like to avoid crowds but still have decent weather.)

Unfortunately I don't think there is much chance of big crowds, due the current situation. Remember it is usually very hot and humid in the summer.

We were there in second half of June in 2002 and while some of the more popular sites (especially churches)were crowded most of the other places were not and the weather was great. Yes, it was old at the Dead Sea and Masada but I would much rather have been on the warm side than cold. Plus, it added to my sense of what the country is all about. The warmth also made it possible to enjoy the pool at the Kibutz, the Med Sea and the Dead Sea. Would go at same time of the year again.

best time is April to mid June, and then mid September and October. but think if this is at all the time to come to Israel.
