marrakesh

hello,
we are thinking of spending 5 nights in marrakesh.
we know that there is so much to see in the city, but would really love to spend a night in the desert in a camp. anyone know of any good companies for this type of trip? not overly priced? thanks

Marrakech is about two days drive from the desert. Do you have enough time?

we haven't booked anything quite yet! we are debating between a few trip options. I know there are some 2 night desert treks, sounds like a lot of driving but great scenery so we won't mind.
A good recommendation for a company to use would help us make some decisions

We used Travel Explorations to plan our trip from Fez to the desert and up to Marrakesh. Excellent job. Desert was the highlight.

We booked our family trip through Authentic Morocco who arranged for our accommodations, car/driver and tours except air tickets to Morocco. Our itinerary was Casablanca, Fez, Merzouga (for Erg Chebbi dunes) before ending in Marrakech. A visit to the Sahara desert is possible but be prepared for the long drives. Our trip from Fez to Merzouga took around 8 hours with lunch and rest stops and almost the same time from there to Marrakech through the Atlas mountains. The trip was so worth it, the sunset camel ride was awesome! We were lucky to have a good driver/guide who was with us the whole time as he was very knowledgeable of the culture and history. So it is important to choose the right travel company to work with. Do your research well and ask as many questions as you can. And once you have chosen the travel company, make sure that you are on the "same page" in as far as itinerary and costs are concerned.
