Best month for Israel?

What season or month is your favorite time to visit Israel and why?? We are working on a trip in 2010....

In my opinion - April (preferable) or May. The weather is still comfortable, almost no chance of rain and the landscape is still green. Avoid Passover (March 30 - April 5) when everybody is on vacation and the country is one big traffic jam.

April or October. Both should be warm but not hot (though that is always still a possibility) Also, there should be little to no rain from April - October. Other months are too hot, or too wet, for reliable , comfortable travel.
Keep in mind that April and October are also some of the most expensive times of the year to visit if your dates correspond to the major Jewish holidays that occur then. On the other hand, there are often special events at parks and sites across the country during those holidays, so that may be another check in the "plus column"!

Spend you money elsewhere. Israel is overrated and incredibly expensive.

So, unless you have business or family in there, don´t go. Hotels and food are an absolute rip off.

Wife and I got back from Israel on the 30th June, 2009 and I swear I will never put my feet again in Israel.

Definitely not worth it.

jfcarli:
Judging from the comments on this site and others regarding Israel, you are definitely in the minority. You don't give any details about your trip but perhaps if you had asked a few questions on this site BEFORE your vacation, you may have avoided the disappoinment that you encountered. Incredibly expensive? Compared to London? Paris ? Thailand?

Hi jfcarli
Have you ever been to Switzerland? It's probably the most expensive I traveled to over the years. We were in Israel last year and while some of the hotels were expensive, the history, sights made up for it. We are going back this year to see southern Israel and Petra. I wish you would have explained it better. The food was no more expensiive than I've paid in parts of Europe or even the US. You could also have done no worse than eating from some of the stands food like falafal or shwarma, as the hotels had good buffet breakfasts. Unless you have another reason for sounding so angry.
