Beautiful day in the Masai Mara today!

Jambo, coming to you via my personal BGAN satellite! It works great!

We just had breakfast at Rekero overlooking a flooding Talek River. The rain here has been incredible. The rivers are torrents so we cannot move freely. Getting to Naibor today will be a 5-hour drive although I can almost see it from here - it is on the other side of the talek.

The Mara is as green as I've ever seen it. Wildlife is great too especially out near Ol Seki, Serian, Rekero Kidogo and Porini Lion. Cats are a bit harder to find but we have seen lion, cheetah and leopard.

More later as we make our way towards Salas, then the Serengeti.

In Tanzania, the rain has caused havoc in Tarangire with many roads closed.

What a trip!

Eben,

Were you able to find that Tipilikwani tented camp just near the Talek gate?

Eben, thank you for the update, especially while you are enroute. Good news on the lion, cheetah and leopard. Hope you see Lion in Serenget then.
Do you know where the migration is now? Saw some reports that the animals were moving south by end of November. Hoping they will be in Ndutu area by end of year. Crossing my fingers anyways.
Enjoy your trip!

Jambo,
What fun hearing from you and getting a mini African fix. Can't believe it's still raining there - how long has it been?
Please post back when possible.

Eben and Carol, I don’t think I have to tell you to enjoy. Thanks for the update. Don’t get stuck in the mud.

Leely Dec 18th, 2006 09:48 AM

Have fun! I am at work in an office right now. I'd rather be stuck in the mud.
