Baptismal sites

Does anyone have experience of the baptismal sites at Yardenit? Any advice in this regard?

Dear Elzeth,
If you are interested in a religious experience, The Yardenit site is a comfortable and acceptable place for baptising, but do not prepare yourslf to a luxurious place. The place has a comfortable access to the Jordan River, which is slow and tranquil, but it is not luxurious, and the Jordan River's water is not so clean. In the place there is also a souvenir store and a restaurant.
In case you are searching for a tourist attraction, you can skip the place and get to many other Christian sites which are located around the Galilee Sea.

This was the only place where we had to pay for using the toilets - I was with Trafalgar tour of all kind of sites.

Thank you for the advice. We would like to baptize a friend in the Jordan. Which kibbutz would you recommend we can stay in while in the area? We will be there 2-3 days.

The nearest Kibbutz to Yardenit is Kibbutz Degannia Bet. Yes, there is also Degannia Alef - so don't get confused. Degannia Bet has a guest house.
This is their e-mail:

Eri, I have tried to get in touch with the kibbutz, but they do not come back to me. This has happened with a few other hotels and hostels I have been contacting, including the YMCA in Tiberias. Any suggestions on how I can get response from them?

eri May 6th, 2007 09:47 PM

I appologize for not answering earlier.
I phoned this kibbutz guest house and they assured me that they do answer e-mails. However, I received the distinct impression that you will do much better by contacting by phone:
972-4-6755660 or mobile 972-54-7731660.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for all your trouble Eri! I eventually heard from them, but they cannot accommodate us. I am going to try a few other guest houses this evening.
