baggage weight

Sorry guys it's me again!
Does the 15kg baggage weight include the backpack full of boulders?
We're doing the Mara-Nairobi then Nairobi-Kili flights.
We thought we'd also pack everything thing in clip lock bags to keep the dust out, is this an over reaction?

we always have soft luggage of about 15 kgs each plus photo backpack and photo bag.
not a problem experienced - 6 extended trips.

regarding dust:
it can get dusty and dirty also ion the plane.
mostly our luggage gets out of the compartment covered with dirt.

but our equipment copes with it excellently. we did not extra coverage.

for game drives we always have a kikoi to cover the equipment in between shots while driving. we also have big plastic bags in order to cover against rain/humidity.

hope that answers your questions - must admit: i have no clue what BOULDERS means....

While technically it includes everything, in practice it's unlikely that your carry-on will be weighed unless you place it together with your checked bag. Just hold on to your carry-on. I don't think there are any scales at the Mara airstrips.

We found that the only airport where they weighed your luggage was Wilson. Flying to Wilson from the Mara or any place else where you were taking small planes that didn't originate in Nairobi, the luggage was not weighed. This doesn't help any of you who are flying from Wilson. But since we drove from Nairobi to Sweetwaters, we had no problems with the weight of luggage on any of our flights.

divine54, Boulders are huge rocks.

Thanks for the other info, we dont expect to have a weight problem, but thought if need be could load up our back packs.

i did not mention it bc we do it without thinking....
one checks in and one remains with the hand luggage.
never encountered any problem at wilson.
the airstrip don't have weights....

happy landings!
