Hi Kaye -- I've been away and just found this today. So happy to read of your wonderful gorilla experiences. What an adventure that second day was!

I agree with your comments on the gentleness of the gorillas and the not so perfect behavior of the other humans on the trek

KayeN, I saw a reply that you did to a question about hand luggage on SAA from Jberg to Maun. you said, I believe, that you checked a bag and they let you carry two bags to the plane, including a camera bag weighing 18K. and they let you check it planeside. I am going to Maun and planning on taking my 200-400 Nikon lens in a Think Tank bag which weighs 35lbs with all the camera gear. I will also check a bag and have a personal backpack carry on. I have done this trip in the past but without the 200-400 and a much smaller camera backpack. How did you deal with them and not have to check the camera bag at the counter inside? I am starting to get concerned about taking the large lens. Any advice you have would be appreciated. thanks Jerry
