Athens to Turkey?

What is the best way to get from Athens (Or nearby) to Turkey? I have heard that you can take a ferry, but this is very long. I will be there around september of next year.
Thankyou in advance

Take a Greek boat from Athens to Samos, then take a boat from Samos to Kusadasi. Or you can fly to Rhodes and take a hydrofoil to Marmaris. We did both (Samos-Kusadasi and Rhodes-Marmaris) in summer 97 with no problems.

Due to circumstances, I ended up flying from the Island of Crete to Athens and the Athens to Istanbul. If you have a little more money than time, I would suggest this as the way to go. Not sure how much the leg from Athens to Istanbul was, but beat wasting time on the ferry. If you plan to see the southern west coast of Turkey then the Samos or Rhodes route is an option. If you would like more info on Turkey, feel free to email me. Jen
