Assistance from Lady Egypt guides/reps etc.

Hi,

I am traveling with Lady Egypt and a private guide and I assume that when have to travel by air on internal flights around Egypt, the guide or whoever will take me to the aiport and help me check in.

I was just reading Egypt Air's "Customer Reviews" on Skytrax which, in many cases, were not complimentary.

I would just like to have some help in case something goes wrong.

A lot of people noted that the Egypt Air flights they took had them sitting separately from their partner, or even kids, despite checking in 3 hours early. This is one reason I ask too about the help.

Just ask at the counter for seats to be changed. Egyptians are quite friendly and accommodating and I have never once seen any reluctance to fix up the computers' assignments.

Our Lady Egypt rep was able to walk us in and check us into the airport in Luxor (we just handed him our tickets and luggage and he took care of it), but could not do so in Cairo, due to the setup of the airport. However, they've since opened a new terminal in Cairo, so it may be different. Our EgyptAir experience was fine - not luxury, but fine. Anyway, the flights (internal) are all really short, so while we weren't separated, if we were, it wouldn't have been that big a deal.

It's been some years, but our Cairo guide easily checked us in for flight to Aswan/Abu Simbel and on the return from Luxor to Cairo, again guide checked us in.

As sf7307, flights are short, maybe 1/hr to Luxor 1.5/hrs to Aswan. Sometimes it's nice to not be sitting with spouse, child or friend. Might be your only "alone" time! :) But no harm to ask for seats to be changed.

Sandi...I know it's not long and I don't care in one respect about sitting alone...... but I am also a "worst case scenario" person. "What if" something happened and my husband is 10 rows back?

What are you expecting to go wrong? Go to the airport, with the LE rep, check in (with LE rep's assistance) just as you would for any other flight, fly.

If seats together are so important, request that, if Egypt Air can accomodate your request they will.

Not sure why you are making this so complicated.

Flying Egypt Air is just like flying most airlines, lets be realistic, there are only a few airlines that are good, most aren't.

MissGreen,

Are you nervous about flying in general or did some particular reviews on EgyptAir on SkyTrax worry you? I felt very safe flying EgtypAir to Abu Simbel. The plane looked clean inside and out. If you've flown often then it shouldn't be any big deal at all to fly EA.

MissGreen Jul 18th, 2010 09:05 PM

Nope... not a nervous flyer... I love flying. I just don't like the plane crashing! Yeah, yeah, I know the odds of that are virtually impossible.....!

sf7307 Jul 19th, 2010 08:06 AM

Well, I AM a nervous flyer, but seriously, it's an hour. And if something DOES go wrong, what can your husband do about it anyway? :-)

sandi Jul 19th, 2010 08:30 AM

Unless you both want to go down together (unlikely plane will), maybe fly on different planes. This is what many couples who have families do.

As above, if being a seat away from hubby, then have Egypt Air change seats. Speak up.

You can also try asking the person occupying the seat if he/she doesn't mind switching. Having said that, I once gave up my window seat on a Peruvian flight from Puno to Arequipa and I then kicked myself for the rest of the flight when I saw what the view outside the window was. I will never give up my window seat again :)

SF... he can hold my hand and tell me he's always been madly in love with me!! lol

Axel2DP Jul 20th, 2010 09:08 AM

You know how Carol Burnett had her signature tug at the earlobe and touch nose gesture? Maybe you and your husband can create some sort of hand signal between the two of you for when you guys can't be seated together. That way when the plane is on its way down you can just look back at him from your seat and he can habd signal that he loves you. Or he can text you also ....

...But it's best no to think about what might go wrong when you're on an airplane ;)

I have flown with 8 people and we sat together. Really, don't worry. For two people, it will not be that hard to get seats together if you check in early. The planes are small, but not that small. When buying internal flights online, I have always been able to assign my own seats. If the rep hasn't done this, just have him/her call EgyptAir and assign you the seats. As others have said, even if you have to sit apart the flights are very short. I think you're flying Aswan to Abu Simbel which is 45-50mins tops. By the time, the plane levels off and they serve you a beverage, you're ready to land. :-) You'll be fine.
