Arriving Mfuwe 4:20 pm, where to stay that evening? Mfuwe Lodge or ??

Starting a new thread as DH and I just booked our flights into and out of Lusaka for next August. We arrive in Lusaka at 12:30 pm and are then planning to fly from Lusaka at 3:10 pm arriving Mfuwe at 4:20 pm. If we are flying into Mfuwe at that time is it possible to get to Mfuwe Lodge to stay that night or is there somewhere else we should try to stay? This will be our first time traveling in that area and I am not familiar with the distances. We are not self-driving, and enjoy night drives, but don't want to bite off more than we can chew. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Any lodge will pick you up at that time- they are allowed to drive in the park until 8pm so it's still time to get you there even if it's a long transfer. Depending on how far the transfer is, they'd probably make a game drive of it.

Where are you planning to stay first?

Are you staying in S Luangwa? You could just add a night to that camp, if room permits.

Otherwise, staying near the airport at Mfuwe Lodge or elsewhere offers an opportunity to see the animals in that region. Not only do you have a chance to see them before sundown, but you can do a night drive in that very productive part of the park. The next day you can do a morning activity in Mfuwe, be it on foot or in a vehicle--before the transfer to your other camp midday.

Although there are more people in Mfuwe, the quantity of the wildlife and the relaxed nature of it offers some nice opportunities in my experience. It could add some variety to your S. Luangwa itinerary.
