Are you sitting down? Roccco booked my stay at MalaMala!

Roccco was working with me on a safari for June 05. I was looking for a lower priced camp because there are 3 of us going and the airfare alone is enough to kill the budget.

So Roccco and I are emailing and phoning back and forth regarding different camps and the pros/cons. He read my post here where I asked about a couple of camps and mentioned that I had awesome gameviewing at MalaMala. Roccco picked up the phone and called MM just to see what was available. He discovered that because my kids are under 12 they get 50% off on their rates. I didn't even consider checking with them because I knew I couldn't afford $1500 per night.

So, thanks to Roccco, we are going to spend 5 nights at MM, 3 for the price of 2! I'm pretty excited.

Hi Sundowner,

You are returning to a reserve that offers fantastic gameviewing, as you are well aware. Your kids will love it! Being able to see all of those wonderful cats is an amazing experience, more so when you are aware of some of their history, and one that kids will remember. I have taken two nieces there aged 11, and I found both rangers both times were absolutely wonderful with them, even though I think initially one wasn't quite as used to having their private space invaded quite as much, he handled it perfectly. It was great to see.
They still will pull out their albums to remember those times, and there are now 14 & 16.

Kind regards,

Kaye

Thanks, guys!

Kaye, or anyone, which ranger should I request? Tim was my ranger in 2004 but he was "retiring" and moving on to something different (he had his 28th birthday while we were there).

I know all the rangers go through extensive training but I hope to have the best one!

Sundowner

Leon is awesome, very quiet but amazingly knowledgeable and experienced and with a terrifically dry sense of humour.
Alan is also great, but he works there when he is not at college.

Enjoy your time there, I'm sure you will love it.

Hi Sundowner,

I have long given up requesting rangers, as they can be on leave or left or their schedule doesn't fit into mine. I have never been unhappy with a ranger at MalaMala, quite the opposite, and I am a guest that always needs to know quite a lot of information.

Certainly, Leon is wonderful and extremely knowledgeable but I doubt that you can go wrong no matter who you get!

Kind regards,
Kaye

Congratulations Sundowner and Rocco. A good move for you both. I'll be interested in your report Sundowner because I think I'll be going to Mala Mala the following June.
