Are the power outages in Kenya a problem for tourists?

I realize that power outages are a problem for everyone but I am wonering if I need to plan on bringing some kind of back up lighting system when I go there this August. Has anyone heard how often you go without electricity and water?

This may depend on where you will stay.
We have been on a safari in 4 different parks and I think that only 1 time we were out of electricity. Later on we were in a hotel on Diani Beach, Mombasa and had several power interruptions mostly during the evening when all the guests were in their rooms using the airco, hairdryers, etc. It never took long because the hotels have their own generators. We have never been out of water.
In all the lodges and hotels where we have been candles were available in the rooms and in the bathrooms.
We always take one or two small flashlights with us, everywhere we go.
