Aqaba or Wadi Rum

after going to Petra in late March we have plans to spend one night in Wadi Rum and then head to Aqaba the next day for our night trip to Syria...after reading people's comments I am wondering if we should skip staying in Wadi Rum. (after spending some time there).Thoughts?

I answered on the other post you responded on.

Have you done a desert stay or camel ride before? If not, I'd say go for Wadi Rum. I'd try to book with a company that would take you to see specific places in the desert with interesting rock formations. Aqaba is nowhere to get excited about, just a resort town, with a not very good-looking beach. The snorkeling/diving might be good, although it's said to be better from Egypt.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...ouin-camps.cfm

I just posted there. We did not go to Aqaba, but found Wadi Rum and Jabal Camp to be substantially less than advertised.

Don't skip WR but I do agree that you need to find the right outfitter to take you to places that you want to see. Try to schedule one that'll allow a sunset view.

Even though I'd never repeat my Wadi Rum experience, I am sure it's something you have to do!
