Anyone booked a safari with Natural Habitat Adventures?

They seem to have some exciting trips and it looks like they use Wilderness Safaris accommodations.

Hi there I used this company in OCT 1999. To ZIMBABWE. It was a great trip for the first time. The guide we had was awesome. The guide and I are still in contact. I have not used them since, because I try to put my own safari together. They are also a bit too much money. For me any way. Do you want the agent there that I did business with? We keep in touch from time to time. Where are you expecting to go?
Good luck, David

Thanks, David...Yes, I'd appreciate the name of your contact there. I'm interested in either the Hidden Botswana or the Botswana/Zimbabwe safari.

I've been to both places before and have been wanting to return. I'm also a solo traveler so am looking for a small group to go with.

Hi again, I would have to do some real digging for my contacts name. What I have at hand is his e-mail there.
It is: [email protected] Or call ,ask for Rick. Do you have the number? Tell him David from RHODE ISLAND gave you his name. Would you have any interest in TANZANIA OR KENYA?
I'm going in sept. I plan on going to visit my guide friend in ZIM SEPT 2005 Along with either a week in BOTS or ZAMBIA.
Take care, David

Hey David....I haven't been hot on going to Kenya because I have the impression that it's more touristy and crowded than other places. I was planning on going to Southern Tanzania and Northern Malawi in October, but am not able to get away at that time afterall. I'm so disappointed. So, I prefer the more remote places, which is what I loved about Zimbabwe and Botswana. I'd love to go to Zambia, too., particularly South Luanga.

Does anyone have additional information or recent experience with Natural Habitat Adventures?

Nat Hab is great. I've gone to Alaska, Polar Bears in Churchill, and Dolphin Watch in Bahamas (wild dolphins) with them. I have encountered their groups in Alaska, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania and everybody was having fun. Never been to Africa with them, but I certainly would use them. My trips with them have been excellent in every respect.

On one of the trips there was a small issue that I addressed with them upon return and they handled it to my complete satisfaction and to the satisfaction of my traveling partner. On another trip I had a small medical issue that was not life threatening but a big concern to me. They handled that one really well too. To me it is important how a company deals with situations that are not perfect. Nat Hab came through both times under different circumstances.

I see back in 2004 Rick from Nat Hab is mentioned. He's my contact too. Very helpful and friendly.

I'd love to book every trip in their catalog or on their website. That makes me sound like a shill. But I'm not. In fact sometimes I look at their itineraries to get ideas on how I can go to the same places but for less $. They do have a guarantee of a price match for the same itinerary with a competitor. But I find I can stay at less expensive places and use local companies to cut the price. Nat Hab is not overpriced, but there are ways to have a similar experience for less.

In sum, you'll be happy with a Nat Hab trip. And after a couple of trips you are eligible for discounts and last minute bargains and such. I'd love to take advantage of some of those offerings.

So what trip are you considering?

Thank you for the comments. We are considering the "Great Kenya Migration"

JObermeyer Jan 18th, 2014 10:44 AM

Also considering the safari providers SITA and General Tours. If anyone has had experience with either your input would be most welcome.

You will do much better if you start your a new thread instead of tacking on to a 10 year old one . . .

atravelynn Jan 19th, 2014 04:37 PM

A new thread would be better. Until you do one--looks like the whole time is in the Mara for the Nat Hab trip. I've done that during Aug. Good Plan.

Hard to compare pricing with others due to Nat Hab's private mobile camp. Nice itinerary.
