Any pilots? Has anyone done a self fly safari in Southern Africa?

I didn't receive any responses to my first post, so I thought I would try again. Has anyone done a self fly safari? We plan to do a self fly safari in June and was wondering if anyone on this site has done this before and could offer suggestions.

Hi Dina,
My husbands secretary did this in Namibia last year.

Her husband is a pilot in the Swiss military. I remember her saying it was difficult to secure a plane, but they did, and absolutely loved it.

It is a great time saver -
if you have specific questions you would like me to ask her , I could possibly forward them.

Thank you for the offer. We are actually going through a tour company that specializes in self fly safaris, so they are taking care of securing the plane, as well as arranging our accomodation. I am mostly interested in safety, but I guess it's no different than charter flights...only in this case I know the pilot!
