any ideas?

I am planning to visit Tanzania next year and have been reading a great deal about it. Are there any "MUST SEE" places? Which safari company is considered the best? Any suggestions on what to bring (ie. the kids in Egypt loved ball point pens). Any helpful hints?

Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe:
Have you seen the East Africa Trip Index that lynda created? You can read about trips to Tanzania (and includes the names of the safari company that was used). Here is the address.

Also, do you know what time of year you would be traveling? It makes a difference in terms of where the wildebeest migration might be located. Take a look at this website for migration maps as well as infromation about the various accommodations in the parks.

select the serengeti to see the migration maps.

Also are you going budget or big bucks? Rocco's recent trip was an example of the latter. Do you want canvas or a roof overhead? Group or private? I'm sure with so many specialists here if you give a budget you'll receive a great itinerary plan.

Must see's? Ngorongoro Crater, sunrise from summit of Kilimanjaro, anywhere in the Serengeti ;-) A fire at night with Maasai guardians and lions roaring in the distance... There is something worth seeing with every turn of the head!

Must see=Ngorongoro Crater, regardless of what time of year you are going. Giving us dates or month of travel will help, especially for Serengeti plans. I'd consider the Serengeti a must too, unless you substitute the Masai Mara in Kenya, due to time of year you are traveling.

What ages are those lucky kids? That's important info too.
