Any feedback on Ilkiane safari adventure camp?
We are having to change the last two nights of our adventure to Kenya. We were going to Lamu Island but have cancelled due to State Department warning. Our choice is Ilkiane safari adventure camp or to return to Porini Lion where we will have already spent 3 nights. An advantage to Porini Lion is that it is in the conservancy. We are leaving in one month--beg of August.
Can anyone comment? I know very little about Ilkiane safari adventure camp. Thanks. |
Are you referring to Ikeliani? If not, could you provide a link to the camp?
Where else in Kenya will you have been? If you're looking for post safari relaxation that's not on the coast, you could consider something like Samatian Island in Lake Baringo. However I don't know about availability at this late date. |
Sorry, I just read that Samatian is only available on a self catered basis now. But there are other retreat like places in the Rift Valley lakes, just a thought.

Hi,
Are you referring to Ilkeliani Tented Camp. If you are,in my opiion it is a great place to stay. Please follow this link for more information. www.MagicalKenya.com C. |
Hi,
I should have mentioned, the link above allows you to search for accommodation and other information about Kenya. Happy travels! |
Glad to see that Patty posted as I seem to recall she stayed here some years back.
I only stopped here for lunch and though nice enough I wasn't thrilled with it's location outside the Talek Gate and thru a local village... rather busy area. Ilkeliani has a sister camp in the Mara Reserve named Entim, w/ 10tents on a hill at a turn of the river and great for game viewing. Though I wasn't here during 'migration' time, it wouldn't surprise that the herds cross right here. Inquire if Entim is available. |
Yes from Ikeliani you would drive through Talek village to access the reserve gate. From the tent decks, the view is across the river into the reserve.

Thank you for your responses. We have decided to go to Entim thanks to your help. We will also be up in Samburu.
