If your children are teenagers, you can rent 4x4's in most countries and visit parks on your own. The vehicles are kitted out with most everything you need and 2 rooftop tents. Then its food, fuel, park fees and camping fees pretty much. In some parks you can hire a game scout at the gate or park headquarters to come with you. These guys all do antipoaching at one time or another, frequently are the same guys that carry the gun on walking
safaris for high end tours.
So, if you want a cheap safari and like to camp--or even split a nite or 2 at a upmarket lodge, this is the way to go.

So, if you want a cheap safari and like to camp--or even split a nite or 2 at a upmarket lodge, this is the way to go. I have been doing this for years. Best place to keep on the cheap-Zimbabwe hands down.Although, it is having problems, but the only thing that will effect a traveler is lack of preparation b4 going. Supplies and fuel can be a difficult to replenish. And it is still safe to travel there.
