You have a fantastic lens and I'm sure it will provide great results. As Tom (cary999) often says "it's the indian not the arrows".

I've used the 70-200 f/2.8 with the 1.4x and the 2.0x extensively. I feel the image quality is quite good. I've also used the 1.4x and 2.0x on the 300 2.8 and am pleased with those images as well. I've used the 1.4x plus the 2.0x at the same time on the 300 2.8 and still had a sharp image.

You are going with a great lens so don't worry and have a great trip!

Chuck -- we are going on a Quark Expeditions trip on the Orlova, visting the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. I think it is going to be awesome! We depart Ushuaia on January 15.
