Another Cam in Africa

There is an elephant there now.

Nkorho Pan is a natural water hole in the prestigious Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, in South Africa. Nkorho pan is named after Nkorho bush Lodge which gets it name from the Shangaan derivative for the call of the yellow-billed hornbill, a common and unusual looking bird from this area.

Just found this videocam this week when checking out the africam still shots. There have been some wonderful vidoes on this site. And the screen seems bigger and clearer which sure helps these poor ole eyes

zebras are there now.

I just logged on for some gameviewing and I think it's great. Turn your volume up and you'll also get all the sounds of the african bush. So far, I've seen impala, baboons and lots of different birds, including a raptor feeding on a rodent in a tree. Someone is controlling the camera, who can zoom and pan the shot if something interesting is happening

Some warthogs at the waterhole right now.

Yeah, I know Hari. At the moment I am getting my fixes from this webcam and by watching lots of documentaries. It's helping with the symptoms, until I get the cure at the end of next month.

Apart from the work by the Jouberts, do you know of any other documentaries that have been filmed in Botswana, particularly the Delta?

santharamhari Sep 17th, 2006 06:58 AM

Hi Gaurang,

Just a couple of documentaries here and there on the discovery channel. There was a good one called, "Swimming lions" based on the Machaba pride...done the research study team. There was a good clip of lions hunting roan. Now that's a sight!!!

Talking about lion and roan....apparently, at Lagoon camp a couple months ago...the cheetah boys hunted a roan calf!!!

When do you leave?

Hari

Baboons at the waterhole, 10:13 CST.

Africa Sep 17th, 2006 09:07 AM

Hari....I leave on 28th October. I've noticed that there is a lack of docs filmed in Botswana and Zambia, compared to East Africa. But then again, East Africa has always been a lot more accessible for film makers.

santharamhari Sep 17th, 2006 06:24 PM

Garurang,

There are still a few documentaries from Botswana...yes, not as many as those from East Africa or the Sabi Sands.

October 28th will be here in a jiffy....that first week of your trip will be super productive for game viewing.

Very cool sundowner - thanks.
Does anyone know if you can put this up as a screen saver? I have in the past put up a google watering hole cam site but can't remember how.

Giraffes, zebras and a waterbuck are there now

Gardyloo Sep 27th, 2006 08:42 AM

We were at Nkorho when Dirk was fine tuning the webcam and installing the uplink dish. The rangers and other staff thought it was like having a video game in the bar - a lot of time spent panning and zooming using the remote. It's amazing how sensitive the camera is while in IR mode.

Addiction danger I fear; another one. Sigh.

This is cool! Lots of action this evening... very noisy too. Are those bullfrogs making all that noise???
