Well, I can't say slide shows are something I feel strongly about but I do enjoy them as a means to sharing photography in a social environment.

But sometimes I do think people get too hung up on the media and the hows of it all to the extent that the images themselves get overlooked.

At the end of the day, I just enjoy viewing good photographs - I don't care about how I view them provided that the images are clear, sharp and well presented.

Do you take film that needs to be stored in cool bags or not worry about that kind of stuff?

Do you sell your images commercially or are they mainly for your own enjoyment and for sharing with others on a non-commercial basis?

Do you have any digital versions online anywhere?

To answer your questions:

1) I don't use the professional emulsions, so I don't have to worry much about temperature. Cool bags are out of the question - I already have a HUGE luggage problem without them.

2) My images are for my own enjoyment.

3) There are some images online, but this is 4-5 years old bullsh*t - my first steps into photography after a break of 20 years.
I still like some of the lion portraits, http://www.virtuellesafari.de/Lion-2.d.html, and maybe the lilac-breasted roller, http://www.virtuellesafari.de/LilacB...dRoller.d.html, but most of the others will be removed if I ever find the time to scan some of the new ones. Unfortunately (for my images) my main websites, the Safari Portal and the Safari Shop, take too much of my spare time...

Well... since I don't live locally to you so I can't attend a slide show :D I'd be delighted if you were able to scan some of your more recent work and share it with us.

I really do love viewing photos, safari ones in particular!

OK bwanamitch, you win again. I thought I was bad with about 90-100 rolls (in my film days).

Here's another distinct advantage for digital however: have you ever been in a situation when you snapped a photo of a person, and then worried that other there (especially with kids, but I've seen this happen with adults too) would be hurt that you didn't take their photo? This happens to me pretty frequently, even in situations where nobody expects to get copies of the photos. At least with digital, I can be fair and take everyone's photo, something I was loathe to do when I worried about wasting film!

You are right, this is one big advantage of digital. I once experienced this in a very remote village in Tanzania. One of my fellow travellers had a digital videocam, and he was the star for all the kids. (The adults of the village got a little angry about this because nobody paid them attention anymore.)

However, how often do you encounter situations like this if you travel in true Fodorite style? ;-)
