How easy is it really to get from Amman to Petra where we will stay for 2-3 nights?
I see JETT bus mentioned but it looks like it only runs 1x/day at 6am and not every day.
Anyone taken a private taxi to Petra?

Thanks for any advice.

Regards David

dear david,

you can use many ways in getting from amman to petra ,by private car rental, taxi,or by travel agent ,jet bus goes for 1 day trip twice aweek ,sunday &tuesday with full prog ,only one day &back evening to amman .so best way to use other options.

agrees with Ali, the Jet is the cheapest way to go there, for You get the transportation, the entrace fee and a dinner for less You will pay for the entrace when You are on Your own (we payed 30 US $ pp). The bad things on Jet is that he only offers one-day-trips. So at last You have just 4 to 5 hours in Petra which is deffinitly not enough. But Ali forget the "normal" busses. Leaving every day and very cheap.

Have fun

dear jar,

regarding general transport is their as well ,this is used by local jordanian residence amman/petra/amman .lot of tourists dont like to use these kind of transport .other tourist buses are only going with organised tours ,but still can go by private tourist mini buses ,or car rental with driver ,they are safe &fully insured .for david to stay at 3 star hotels for $28 per pax in dbl room with 2 meals .
